Our Toronto bankruptcy trustees provide a full range of debt relief solutions:
Debt negotiation - contacting your creditors - to help you preserve your credit rating, our Toronto bankruptcy trustees
can contact some or all of your creditors to explain your financial situation and recommend an arrangement that is tailored for your circumstances. Remember that filing bankruptcy in Canada is not the only solution to your money problems. Debt negotiation could be a viable alternative.
Debt elimination & consolidation loan - by approaching your bank or through our network of lenders, our managers and Toronto bankruptcy trustees can help you secure one loan to repay all of your other debts. While you may still owe the same amount in total, the monthly payment is often lower and you will only have one payment to make every month, which makes debt elimination easier. Debt consolidation is one alternative to filing bankruptcy in Toronto.
Consumer proposal - this agreement between you and your creditors may allow you to pay off only a portion of your debts and/or extend the time you have to pay off those debts. Our Toronto bankruptcy trustees help you draw up and present a formal offer to your creditors that is fair and reasonable to the creditors but that is also affordable to you. If the required majority of the creditors accept the offer then all your unsecured creditors are obliged by law to also accept the offer. Filing of a consumer proposal immediately stops all collection efforts and legal actions by your unsecured creditors, including asset seizures, and wage garnishments, but without having to file for bankruptcy. This type of debt relief is another alternative to personal bankruptcy filing.
Personal bankruptcy - as a last resort, you can cope with a financial crisis by declaring bankruptcy. Filing bankruptcy with one of our Toronto bankruptcy trustees is a powerful debt solution that immediately stops all collection efforts and legal actions by your creditors, including lawsuits, asset seizures, and wage garnishments. The personal bankruptcy process includes debt counseling sessions that can help you create realistic budgets and regain control over your finances. While nobody wants to go bankrupt, this may be the most appropriate solution to bring closure to a difficult period in your life so that you can build the new future that you and your family deserve.
